I was Fired.

My Dream

I had a vivid dream of being back at a company that I was fired from. My dream was about me starting a job there years later, and seeing how the company/org has changed.

After waking up, I read some of my old farewell emails and stalked some people to see whether they are still there, and where they are now if they’ve left. The farewell replies I received [or not received] said a lot, and were very reflective of my impression of them [or lack of] all these years later. I met some nice people there, even though management seems to have continued to corrupt since then, at least in in my old department. Those who did not care for those politics seem to have left.

Tomorrow will be the 4 year anniversary of being fired from that place. The experience really scarred me, but it is the reason I left the industry - by choice or not, directly or indirectly.

A wise man once said to me:

“An imposed change almost always turns out to be a correction of a worse thing into a better thing.”

It may not seem it at the time, and I have no way of knowing where I would be if this had not happened to me, but I am happy with where I am today. For anyone who has encountered such hardships, know that you are not alone. For anyone who will in the future, know that you will be ok.

Moving On

I don’t hold grudges. I let the bad memories slip away, and the good ones propel me forward.

Thinking back to how I handled those tough times, I’ve come a long way. Tomorrow, I am starting a new job that I’m pretty excited about. I hope I grow even more as the years go by.
